Source: Youtube
The majority of the time, Stephen King horror adaptations are hit or miss. However, given the excellent cast (including Sophie Thatcher from Yellowjackets!) and the unsettling nature of the trailer, there is a high chance that The Boogeyman will be enjoyable. #2. The Blackening (June 16)
Source: Youtube
We'll just say that the experience of Black horror enthusiasts will be hilariously examined in The Blackening. A group of Black friends who visit a lodge in the woods on Juneteenth is the subject of the movie. They have no idea a masked killer is stalking them, though. You may have found another 2023 horror movie to watch if you're seeking something with an all-Black cast and a distinctive spin on horror comedy that takes place in a cabin in the middle of nowhere.
Synopsis (Rotten Tomatoes): The Blackening centers around a group of Black friends who reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. Forced to play by his rules, the friends soon realize this ain't no motherfu**in' game. Directed by Tim Story (Ride Along, Think Like A Man, Barbershop) and co-written by Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip, Harlem) and Dewayne Perkins (The Amber Ruffin Show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), The Blackening skewers genre tropes and poses the sardonic question: if the entire cast of a horror movie is Black, who dies first?

#3. Insidious: The Red Door (July 7)
Source: Youtube
For the most part, the Insidious franchise has been average. In that respect, as well as the fact that both films were created by James Wan, they are comparable to The Conjuring movies. However, perhaps this fifth episode will be a hit. After all, the sequel will see Patrick Wilson, the franchise's star, making his debut as a director. Ten years after the events of the previous two films, Insidious: The Red Door will take up and follow a young Dalton Lambert (Ty Simpkins) as he battles demons once more.
Synopsis (Rotten Tomatoes): In Insidious: The Red Door, the horror franchise's original cast returns for the final chapter of the Lambert family's terrifying saga. To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must go deeper into The Further than ever before, facing their family's dark past and a host of new and more horrifying terrors that lurk behind the red door.

#6. The Last Voyage of the Demeter (August 11)
Source: Amblin
It appears that vampire horror is once again on the increase, and Dracula is unsurprisingly a part of the trend. Renfield will take care of the campy horror aspect, but in a way that is also genuinely disturbing. The crew of a merchant ship that becomes the target of Dracula's attention will be followed in The Last Voyage of the Demeter. You can get a general idea of what to expect from this movie, which is directed by André Ovredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark) if you've read "The Captain's Log" from Bram Stoker's Dracula. Given the environment, it is probably certain to be extremely disturbing.
Synopsis (Rotten Tomatoes): Based on a single chilling chapter from Bram Stoker's classic novel Dracula, The Last Voyage of the Demeter tells the terrifying story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo--fifty unmarked wooden crates--from Carpathia to London. Strange events befall the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a merciless presence onboard the ship. When the Demeter finally arrives off the shores of England, it is a charred, derelict wreck. There is no trace of the crew.

With The Nun 2, the Conjuring world is back and has something for (nearly) everyone. Akela Cooper, the screenwriter of M3GAN and Malignant, collaborated on The Nun 2, so perhaps this one will be a little more entertaining.
