Some people still believe that animals are merely dumb beasts, but the unexpected animal friendships we've gathered here will show that they, too, are capable of experiencing love and compassion. All of these animal photographs are obviously heartbreakingly lovely, but there's more to them than that. Why did these animals become friends? Some of species, such as lions, dogs, and elephants, are known in the wild for building deep social bonds or even networks. In the absence of their prides or packs, it seems to reason that they would seek out animal companions from other species. Other more isolated animals, especially if their parents have died, may create a parent-child bond with creatures with whom they spend time or who helped rear them.
Whatever the reason, extraordinary friendships such as these demonstrate that animals are significantly more emotionally complicated than many of humans believe. Despite their complexity, these amusing creatures have entertaining moments when playing with their mate. Wildlife photography or the animal owner's keen eye resulted in these amusing animal photographs. Perhaps the friendships aren't so strange after all!
