Who will be the next James Bond? Since Daniel Craig first discussed hanging up his tuxedo, it's been on the lips of the film industry’s kingmakers. After his fifth appearance as the martini-sipping secret agent in No Time to Die, the rumor mill has once more gone into overdrive. How much will the new Bond really differ from the character’s previous iterations? Browse the current competitors below until we know more.

In many ways, the Kick-Ass star makes perfect sense to play Bond: accustomed to stunting work; showed his versatility in Nocturnal Animals (for which he received a Golden Globe and a BAFTA nomination); and at 32, he's the ideal age to sign on to a franchise that could require more than a decade's worth of commitment. We could easily see the High Wycombe-born actor donning a sharp suit and sidling up to a poker table.
#2. Regé-Jean Page

The “Bridgerton” breakout first stirred Bond's suspicions when he tweeted “Regency, royalty. Shaken and stirred” before the wildly popular Netflix series’ Season 1 premiere. With his dashing good looks and charming delivery, there’s no doubt Page would make a fantastic Bond. What’s more, his career has just started to take shape over the last few years, putting him in that sweet spot between unknown and superstar that could make for a long and fruitful Bond run.
#3. Henry Golding

The British-Malaysian dreamboat could certainly make a bid to be the first Asian Bond. In a short time, Golding has shown that he is not only a deft actor in a hit rom-com, but adept with thrillers and action. And for those who feel Bond has gotten far too serious, Golding can also bring a charming levity to the screen.

#4. Lashana Lynch

A simple solution for the next Bond: continue the story with Lashana Lynch’s character Nomi from “No Time to Die.” Lynch clearly has the action chops, look no further than her stunning turn in “The Woman King.” “Nomi represents one thing in this movie, but if she was going to represent more down the line, I would want to talk about the Black female experience to the high heavens, and I don’t know if people are ready for that.”
#5. Jacob Elordi

It’s high time to return 007 to his roots as a professional, debonair psychopath. Who better for that than Elordi, the 6’5” Brisbane-born heartthrob examining modern-day toxic masculinity? Most importantly, he’s only 25 years old. That means plenty of time to make five or six or 19 new films.
#6. Robert Aramayo

As the politically minded, half-Elven Elrond in Amazon’s big-budget blockbuster The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the Hull native shot to prominence. He got those Bond rumors swirling with his charm and quiet heroism. He’s a dab hand with a sword but could very well trade it in for a Walther PPK.
#7. Sam Heughan

Best known for Outlander and The Spy Who Dumped Me, the Scottish actor has been open about his desire to take over. “I have been up for Bond,” he said on the podcast Just The Facts with Alex Zane. “I went up for it when they did ‘Bond 21’ [Casino Royale]. It was an amazing experience and I was completely out of my depth. But I think now I feel the right age for it. I feel capable enough to do it. I’d love the opportunity to throw my hat in the ring.”
#8. Idris Elba

The London-born actor has been one of the most talked-about potential replacements for Craig in recent years. With range, gravitas, and smoldering good looks, Elba has it all. Countless actors, producers, and directors have all campaigned for his Bond residency. To be honest, at 50 years old, he might not feel like sticking with the franchise possibly for more than a decade to come.
#9. Jack Lowden

When asked if he’d consider swapping River Cartwright’s low-key sweatshirts for a tuxedo and martini, he was coy. For Daniel Craig, the actor said: “It’s going to take a long time to get him out of my head. Or anybody else’s.” However, with his already impressive oeuvre across stage and screen: Mary Queen of Scots, Fighting with My Family, and Small Axe, he’d be a worthy successor.
#10. Paapa Essiedu

The 32-year-old Londoner is a seasoned stage veteran who has displayed exceptional talent in everything from Michaela Coel's virtuoso I May Destroy You to The Miniaturist and Press. He recently entered the conversation when Danny Boyle, who was originally slated to direct the 25th Bond film, cited him as a potential successor to Craig. Essiedu has the natural charisma as well as the range and depth required to propel the franchise into the future.
